The brief
- Stores renewable electricity as heat in bricks. Operational at Siam Cement (33 MWh). Contracted with Covestro and HEINEKEN (100 MWh each).
- Each unit delivers 7 MW of continuous heat at 1,500°C, eliminating 13,000+ tonnes CO₂ annually.
Technical approach
Heat stored in bricks
Engineered ceramic bricks, proven in steel mills, store heat as thermal mass at 1,500°C.
Heat feeds a boiler
Hot bricks warm a steam boiler, delivering constant-temperature steam around the clock.
Charged at cheap renewable times
The system charges when solar and wind power is abundant and cheap, storing surplus for production peaks.
Cheaper than fossil fuel steam
Stored renewable power lowers gas costs and carbon without carbon capture.
