Tesla says first Optimus production lines are being installed at Fremont, designed for 1M robots a year
Tesla announced in its Q1 2026 update that first-generation Optimus production lines were being installed at Fremont with large-scale factory preparation starting in Q2. The first line, designed for 1 million robots annually, will replace the Model S/X lines, while Giga Texas preps a second-generation line for 10 million per year.
