PEJ files the construction licence application for Poland's first nuclear plant; first unit targeted for 2036

PEJ submitted its construction licence application to Poland's National Atomic Energy Agency, a roughly 40,000-page file prepared by more than 200 experts, including the preliminary safety analysis. The schedule foresees first concrete in late 2028 and the three units entering commercial service in 2036, 2037 and 2038.

  • Three AP1000 units, 3,750 MWe total.
  • Construction of each reactor expected to take about seven years, plus about a year of testing.
  • The regulator has 24 months to decide, excluding time for PEJ to supplement documents.
