CFS installs the first of 18 toroidal field magnets in SPARC and announces digital-twin work with NVIDIA and Siemens

Commonwealth Fusion SystemsSPARC

At CES 2026, Commonwealth Fusion Systems announced installation of the first of 18 toroidal field magnets in SPARC, each weighing 24 tons and generating 20 tesla fields. CFS also announced collaboration with NVIDIA and Siemens to develop a digital twin that runs continuous simulation alongside the physical reactor.

  • Each magnet weighs 24 tons and generates 20 tesla—13 times stronger than an MRI.
  • CFS expects to install all 18 magnets by summer 2026.
  • Digital twin will allow real-time comparison between simulation and physical reactor to test parameters before implementation.
