The brief
- ReAct captures CO2 from lime kilns and converts it to cement, avoiding waste and cutting lifecycle emissions 70%.
- Redding plant (15 kt/yr) operates in California; Sept 2026 agreement with Mississippi Lime for 300+ kt/yr.
- ReAct matches Portland cement strength and ASTM specs, achieving cost parity for commercial adoption.
Technical approach
Direct CO2 capture from kiln emissions
The ReCarb process captures carbon dioxide directly from cement and lime production, avoiding the energy cost of separating CO2 from air.
Converting CO2 into solid cement
Captured CO2 is mineralized—bonded chemically into the cement matrix—so it cannot be released again. Nearly 50% of ReAct cement by weight is sequestered carbon.
Works in existing plants
The ReCarb process uses existing cement production infrastructure, so it can be deployed at current facilities without building new plants from scratch.
