Fortera and Mississippi Lime sign agreement to build 300+ kt/yr low-carbon cement facility

Fortera

Fortera and Mississippi Lime Company (MLC) signed a development agreement for a commercial ReAct cement facility designed to produce over 300,000 tons annually. The facility will use Fortera's ReCarb process to capture CO2 from MLC's high-calcium lime production and convert it directly into cement, marking the first full-scale commercial deployment.

  • Facility planned for one of MLC's existing locations (Alabama, Missouri, or Kentucky)
  • Will produce 300+ kt/yr, a ~20-fold scale increase from Redding's 15 kt/yr
  • First full-scale commercial facility to mineralize lime-kiln CO2 into cement
  • Represents path to profitable, decarbonized cement supply at industrial scale
