XB-1 breaks the sound barrier, reaching Mach 1.122

Flown by chief test pilot Tristan Brandenburg over Mojave on 28 January 2025, XB-1 climbed to 35,290 feet and accelerated to Mach 1.122, approximately 750 mph. Boom says it was the first time an independently developed, non-government jet broke the sound barrier, and the first civil supersonic jet made in the U.S.
