American Airlines agreed to purchase up to 20 Overture supersonic jets with options for 40 additional aircraft and paid a non-refundable deposit on the initial order. Overture is designed to carry 65 to 80 passengers at Mach 1.7 over water, with a 4,250 nautical mile range enabling transatlantic flights in under five hours, pending Boom meeting operating, performance and safety certification requirements.
