Tesla says 300+ Cybercabs now serve Austin one month after launch
Tesla's Robotaxi account says more than 300 Cybercabs now serve Austin, an eightfold rise in 30 days since paid rides began in early September. Texas registration records show the count rising from 169 to 319, but registered cars and cars actually serving riders are not the same thing.
- Texas's automated vehicle registry rose from 169 to 319 after 150 new vehicles were added.
- Tesla has not said whether all 300+ cars run without a safety monitor, or whether wait times have changed with the larger fleet.
- Dallas is next, according to Tesla's AI chief Ashok Elluswamy, with no date given; Dallas currently gets Model Y robotaxis.
- Austin Robotaxi hours already run until 11 p.m.
