QuantumScapeQSE-5

QuantumScape and Volkswagen's PowerCo announced a landmark non-exclusive licensing agreement allowing PowerCo to mass-produce cells based on QuantumScape's solid-state lithium-metal technology, with capacity up to 40 gigawatt-hours annually and expansion to 80 GWh available. The deal shifts QuantumScape toward a licensing model and combines PowerCo's industrialization capabilities with QuantumScape's proprietary ceramic separator and pure lithium-metal anode.

  • Non-exclusive license: PowerCo can produce up to 40 GWh/year; expandable to 80 GWh.
  • Capacity sufficient for ~1M vehicles annually at 80 GWh scale.
  • Licensing supersedes earlier joint venture arrangement between companies.
