Life Biosciences presents monkey study progress on restoring visual function with partial reprogramming at AAO
At AAO 2024, Life Biosciences presented data in which ER-100—an OSK gene therapy delivered via intravitreal injection—improved retinal ganglion cell function and visual function in a nonhuman primate model of NAION, replicating earlier results and refining dose and timing. ER-100 significantly reduced visual deficits in both prevention and rescue paradigms.
- ER-100 delivered as single intravitreal injection plus daily doxycycline; significantly reduced pattern electroretinogram and axon density deficits in NAION model.
- Efficacy demonstrated in both prevention paradigm (pre-injury) and rescue paradigm (post-injury), showing therapeutic and preventive potential.
- Immunohistochemistry verified expression of all three transcription factors in perifoveal retinal ganglion cells; first human trials planned for H2 2025.
