KLA opens $138M R&D and manufacturing centre in Newport, Wales

KLA opened a new site in Wales for its SPTS etch and deposition equipment, used in advanced packaging, power chips, MEMS, RF and photonics. It adds research clean rooms and manufacturing space with room for 750 staff.

• 237,000 sq ft, including 25,000 sq ft of R&D clean rooms and 35,000 sq ft of manufacturing.
• SPTS has operated in Wales since 1984; KLA acquired its etch and deposition lines in 2019.
