Eigen Labs introduces EigenDA, a data availability service secured by restaked ETH
Eigen Labs introduced EigenDA, a data availability service for rollups to publish transaction data cheaply, secured by restaked ETH and planned as EigenLayer's first service. Data is erasure-coded and split across nodes, each storing only small chunks; private tests reached 10 MB/s throughput over 100 nodes, with a roadmap to 1 GB/s.
- Architecture: Disperser encodes data using erasure coding, sends chunks to operators (not peer-to-peer), operators verify and store.
- Tested throughput: 10 MB/s over 100 nodes in private tests; roadmap target 1 GB/s.
- Security: backed by restaked ETH through EigenLayer, not a separate token.
- Rollup integration: questionnaire for rollups interested in integrating EigenDA; testnet rollout later in 2023.
