Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind sends its first power to the grid
Dominion EnergyCoastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW)
The first CVOW turbine began delivering electricity to Virginia's grid, the start of output from what will be the largest offshore wind farm in the US. Two of the 176 turbines were installed at that point, with the project about 70% complete overall.
- Turbines are Siemens Gamesa 14 MW-class units; 176 planned, 2.6 GW total.
- Cost had risen from $9.8B to about $11.5B, blamed on tariffs and the stop-work order.
- Full completion was then scheduled for early 2027.
