Chainlink launches CCIP 2.0 with institution-run cross-chain verifiers and built-in compliance checks
Chainlink LabsCross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP)
Chainlink launched CCIP 2.0 on 28 September 2026, a cross-chain transfer system aimed at banks, asset managers and other institutions. Its main change lets an institution run its own Cross-Chain Verifier, an extra check that must pass before a transfer executes, on top of Chainlink's default setup. The launch names banks, cloud providers and exchanges as partners, but the release gives no pricing and does not list the supported chains.
- Cross-Chain Verifiers can be run by the institution itself or by third parties such as Infosys and Nethermind; starter kits are offered for AWS and Google Cloud.
- KYC, AML and sanctions screening can be enforced automatically on each transaction.
- Users choose between near-instant transfers and waiting for full finality, or custom approvals.
- Chainlink says CCIP secures over $84 billion in cross-chain token value; the release does not state the period or method behind that figure.
- Named partners include AWS, Google Cloud, ANZ Bank, Crypto Finance and SBI Digital Markets; Further Asset Management only says it 'intends to partner'.
