Cambrian launches Telos Biotech to make CAR-T cell therapies more robust
Cambrian BioPipeline companies
Cambrian Bio launched Telos Biotech to develop Telovance, a recombinant protein that lengthens telomeres in CAR-T cells during manufacturing. CAR-T cells naturally lose telomeres as they expand outside the body, limiting their effectiveness; Telovance restores telomere length to help cells maintain better function and durability against cancer recurrence.
- Telovance is delivered into CAR-T cells during manufacturing to counteract rapid telomere shortening.
- Longer telomeres allow cells from older patients or those with previous therapies to avoid exhaustion during expansion.
- Technology addresses a major limitation of cell immunotherapies without increasing cancer risk.
- Telos Biotech was founded on telomere research from UT Southwestern Medical Center.
