Three 153m blades of advanced composites, 310m diameter, upwind position. Captures energy from any wind direction.
Rotor shaft drives gearbox and generator in one sealed unit. Reduces losses while avoiding size penalty of true direct drives.
Internal and external cooling systems transfer generator and gearbox heat to seawater and air.
Individual blade pitch control adjusts each blade's angle to optimize power in changing wind. Yaw control (tower rotation) keeps the rotor facing into the wind.
