Technical approach
GEiGS combines gene editing with gene silencing
GEiGS uses CRISPR-Cas9 to edit genes and RNAi to silence traits, targeting single problems without changing the plant.
Disable the browning enzyme
The non-browning banana has the polyphenol oxidase gene disabled so the fruit stays yellow after cutting, reducing waste from cosmetic browning.
Target tropical crop killers
Tropic works on resistance to TR4 (Panama disease) and other tropical pathogens that devastate crops across the developing world.
