Westinghouse places conditional orders with four Polish firms for AP1000 plant modules

Westinghouse

Westinghouse has issued conditional purchase orders to four Polish companies for safety-related structural modules for Unit 1 of the Lubiatowo-Kopalino plant in northern Poland. The orders were signed in Warsaw and reported on October 14. Construction is scheduled to start in 2028, and Unit 1 is now due to enter commercial operation in 2036.

  • Suppliers: Mostostal Kielce (CA02 walls), Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia (CA03), Mostostal Kraków (CA05 walls) and FAMAK (CA20 floors)
  • The orders are conditional: the full scope is awarded only after each company reaches full NQA-1 compliance and builds pre-production qualification mock-ups
  • The current work is preparation (technical documents, quality plans, supplier selection, starting material procurement); finished components fall under a later order tied to the construction contract
  • Unit 1 commercial operation is now 2036 and full capacity 2038, three years later than previously planned
  • No monetary values were disclosed; the project will have three AP1000 reactors, for the client Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ)
