Toyota agrees to source cathode active material and anode copper foil from Redwood
Redwood MaterialsRecycling and materials campus
Toyota agreed to source cathode active material and anode copper foil from Redwood for its North Carolina battery plant, closing a loop in which Redwood recycles Toyota hybrid batteries and returns the metals. Targets for Toyota products include at least 20% recycled nickel and lithium, 50% recycled cobalt and 100% recycled copper foil.
- Toyota sources cathode active material and anode copper foil from Redwood for its North Carolina battery facility; establishes a closed-loop supply chain.
- Recycled content targets: ≥20% recycled nickel, ≥20% recycled lithium, ≥50% recycled cobalt (cathode), 100% recycled copper foil (anode).
- Redwood recycles end-of-life Toyota hybrid and EV batteries, recovering metals for reuse in new Toyota vehicle batteries.
