OpenAI, Oracle and Related Digital pick Saline Township, Michigan, for a Stargate campus of over 1 GW

OpenAI announced a Stargate campus in Saline Township, Michigan, part of its 4.5 GW partnership with Oracle, developed by Related Digital with construction due to start in early 2026. It brings Stargate to 8 GW of planned capacity and over $450B of investment; the site uses closed-loop cooling to cut water use.

• Campus spans 250 acres with three 550,000 sq ft buildings; LEED-certified with closed-loop cooling limiting water to office-building levels.
• DTE Energy provides 100% of power; project generates 2,500 union construction jobs and 2,000 permanent positions.
• First of three buildings nearly complete; all construction underway with 1 GW capacity online.
