Alongside reasoning models o3 and o4-mini, OpenAI released Codex CLI, a lightweight open-source coding agent that runs locally in the terminal without cloud dependency. It accepts screenshots or sketches as input and can search code, edit files, write tests and push to GitHub. OpenAI also announced a $1M fund of API-credit grants for projects built on it.
