OpenAI released a Codex desktop app for macOS for supervising several coding agents at once, running tasks in parallel and following long-running work. Codex was temporarily included with ChatGPT Free and Go with doubled rate limits on paid plans. A Windows version followed in March 2026. The app is powered by GPT-5.2-Codex and processes prompts up to 400,000 tokens.
