Lightmatter adds the Passage L20 optical engine to its roadmap, with 6.4 Tbps in each direction
Lightmatter announced the Passage L20, an optical engine module with 32 optical ports at 200 Gbps per lane delivering 6.4 Tbps in each direction at up to 30 W, for mounting near the processor or on the board. Bidirectional transmission halves fiber count; sampling is expected in late 2026.
- Passage L20: 32 optical ports at 200 Gbps/lane, 6.4 Tbps per direction, 30 W max, 2000-pin BGA, 212.5 Gbps PAM4 SerDes.
- Wavelengths 1311 nm and 1331 nm (BiDi, IEEE 802.3dj compliant) reduce fiber requirements by 50% versus unidirectional.
- Sampling expected late 2026; flexible integration without changes to processor or switch chip designs.
