GM sells Lansing Ultium Cells stake to LG Energy Solution

GM agreed to sell its stake in the Lansing, Michigan Ultium Cells battery plant to joint-venture partner LG Energy Solution. The transaction, announced in December 2024 with closing expected in Q1 2025, allows GM to recoup its approximate $1 billion investment while focusing resources on next-generation LMR cell development. GM retains its ownership stake in the Ultium Cells joint venture.
