Fervo drills its hottest, deepest well yet in the Cape project area: 15,765 ft and about 520 °F, in 16 days
Fervo drilled its Sugarloaf appraisal well in the Cape Station area to 15,765 ft vertical depth in 16 days, with rock expected at about 520°F. The company said that was 79% faster than a DOE baseline, showing its enhanced geothermal method can reach hotter rock that yields more power per well.
- 15,765 ft true vertical depth; 520°F bottomhole temperature.
- Drilled in 16 days—79% faster than DOE baseline.
- Maximum bit run 3,290 ft; peak penetration over 300 ft/hour at 15,000+ ft depth.
- DeGolyer & MacNaughton report confirms 50-60% thermal recovery, 3x conventional geothermal; Cape area supports 5+ GW development.
