DOE awards General Matter a $900 million task order for HALEU enrichment

General Matter/Paducah enrichment plant

The Department of Energy issued $900 million task orders to General Matter and to Centrus for domestic HALEU enrichment, and one to Orano for LEU, about $2.7 billion in all. General Matter's award supports its Paducah plant; Urenco USA, an original HALEU contractor, got no task order.

• Three $900M task orders: General Matter (HALEU), Centrus (HALEU), Orano (LEU).
• Global Laser Enrichment received about $28M for next-generation technology.
• General Matter then expected construction in 2026 and operation by 2034.
