DARPA selects Atom Computing for the next stage of its utility-scale quantum computing evaluation

Atom ComputingAtom arrays and Magne

DARPA advanced Atom Computing to Stage B of its Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, a year-long phase requiring a credible R&D plan for utility-scale quantum computers. Atom Computing, working with Microsoft on error-correction codes, recently entangled 24 logical qubits on its 1,000+ atom hardware.

  • Stage B requires R&D plan, risk analysis, prototypes, and demonstrations of system viability.
  • Recent milestones: high-fidelity gates, all-to-all connectivity, extended coherence, mid-circuit measurement, and 28-logical-qubit error detection/correction with Microsoft.
