Ayar Labs unveils a UCIe-compatible optical I/O chiplet
Ayar Labs unveiled TeraPHY, an optical I/O chiplet using the UCIe standard interface and featuring a 16-wavelength SuperNova laser source. The chiplet moves 8 Tbps of data and plugs into processors directly, allowing any chip designer to add optical links without custom integration.
- TeraPHY: UCIe-compatible optical I/O chiplet with 16-wavelength SuperNova laser source; 8 Tbps bandwidth.
- Advantage: open standard lets any chip designer integrate optical interconnects without custom development; reduces power and latency.
- Backers: AMD, TSMC, GlobalFoundries, ASE, Alphawave Semi and the UCIe Consortium.
