At its investor day in Dallas, Aurora said it expects 200 driverless trucks operating by the end of 2026 and more than 30,000 by 2030. - Carrier Hirschbach plans a 500-truck fleet under a 'Driver as a Service' deal, with deliveries from 2027; McLane and Werner already run Aurora trucks.
- Aurora trucks average over 225,000 miles a year, more than twice a typical human-driven truck.
- Roush targets 20 upfitted trucks a week by October; Volvo builds the VNL Autonomous on its line, and PACCAR integration of third-generation hardware is in development.
- Aurora expects multi-billion-dollar revenue by 2030 and software-like gross margins, but has yet to reach positive gross profit.
