Aging cells that linger

Senescent cells stop dividing but remain in tissue. They secrete inflammatory factors that damage nearby cells and drive aging.

Ferroptosis trigger

Iron-dependent cell death

Ferroptosis is cell death driven by iron and oxidative stress. GPX4 prevents it; modulating GPX4 allows senescent cells to die.

Dual mechanism

Selective targeting and cell recovery

RLS-1496 activates ferroptosis in deeply senescent cells while triggering a protective redox reset in stressed but recoverable cells.
