Lead cooling for safety and simplicity

Lead is high-boiling, chemically inert, and absorbs radiation without becoming highly radioactive, allowing simpler plant designs than water or molten salt.

The reactor can burn recycled fuel and on-site reprocessing of spent fuel reduces the waste stream that must be stored long-term.
