Zhangzhou 1 Hualong One starts commercial operation, lifting China to 57 reactors

The first 1,126 MW unit at Zhangzhou in Fujian entered commercial operation about five years after construction began in October 2019. It is the first of six Hualong One units planned at the site, and it moved China past France in the number of operating reactors.
- Owned by a joint venture of CNNC (51%) and China Guodian (49%).
- China now has 57 operating reactors, behind only the US (94).
- Six units are planned at the site, the largest Hualong One base.
- Nuclear supplies about 5% of China's electricity; the goal is 10% by 2035.
