ZeroAvia halves its workforce and narrows certification to the fuel cell system by 2027
Funding constraints forced ZeroAvia to cut about half its staff and push back certification. It now aims to certify the fuel cell power system in 2027, with the full ZA600 powertrain up to two years later; the earlier target had been the end of 2025.
- Chief strategy officer James McMicking: the company is now focused on 'the heart of the engine', the fuel cell system.
- ZA600 targets regional turboprops of up to 20 seats; the larger ZA2000 targets up to 80 seats.
- Sites: Gloucestershire in the UK and Washington State in the US.
