ZeroAvia finishes the first phase of flight testing of its ZA600 hydrogen-electric powertrain
ZeroAvia completed the first phase of testing of the ZA600, its 600 kW hydrogen-electric powertrain, in which fuel cells convert hydrogen into electricity to drive propeller motors. The testing validated core technologies for the system planned to certify with the FAA.
- ZA600 is a 600 kW hydrogen-electric powertrain using fuel cells to convert hydrogen to electricity
- First phase testing completed; flight tests of individual systems expected to take six to nine months
- Production-standard powertrain combining individual systems planned after parallel component testing
- Launch platform for ZA600 is Cessna Caravan for commercial regional operations
