Tesla Robotaxi launches in Orlando and Tampa after Miami earlier in July

TeslaTesla Robotaxi

Tesla began fully driverless Robotaxi rides in Model Ys in Orlando and Tampa, with no driver or safety monitor aboard, weeks after doing the same in Miami. The service areas are small, and larger expansions are expected to wait for the next major version of its self-driving software (FSD v15), due late 2026 or early 2027.

  • Orlando zone: about 12 to 15 square miles in the east and southeast, including Conway and Lee Vista, bounded by the FL-528 and SR 417 expressways.
  • Tampa zone: about 4 to 5 square miles north of Downtown, covering West Tampa, Tampa Heights and Seminole Heights.
  • The Bay Area service added San Francisco airport (SFO), but there safety monitors still sit in the driver's seat.
  • Robotaxi now runs in seven markets in three states: Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Austin, Dallas, Houston and the Bay Area. Fleet size and pricing were not given.
