Tesla renames FSD (Supervised) to 'Tesla Assisted Driving' on most European websites

Tesla

Tesla is renaming FSD (Supervised) to Tesla Assisted Driving on most of its European websites, after Germany's transport ministry said the old name was misleading. The ministry says Tesla offered the new name. The software is already legal under the old name in eight European countries, and Germany says it will push for EU-wide approval.

  • Most European sites now use the new name, and the old FSD address redirects to a new Tesla Assisted Driving page.
  • The ministry says the system helps with acceleration, braking and steering, and the driver stays fully responsible at all times.
  • Tesla and the ministry agreed that the system may exceed the posted speed limit by at most 10 percent.
  • The Dutch authority RDW issued a type approval on April 10, valid only on Dutch roads; EU-wide approval needs a request to the European Commission and a committee majority vote.
  • Germany is not yet on Tesla's list of approved countries, and the article does not say whether the in-car software will get the new name.
