SpaceX Dragon counts down to the CRS-35 station resupply launch from Cape Canaveral

SpaceXDragon

A Falcon 9 with Dragon is counting down to the 35th SpaceX commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station, launching from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral. Dragon is due to dock with the station's Harmony module at about 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, and NASA's docking coverage starts at 9:15 a.m.

  • Dragon carries more than 6,300 pounds of supplies to the station.
  • The cargo includes the final pair of roll-out solar arrays, which add power for research and for the station's eventual deorbit; astronauts plan to install them on spacewalks later this fall.
  • Research hardware includes equipment for making artificial retinas in microgravity, 3D heart tissue models for drug testing, and brain organoids for studying possible treatment targets for neurodegenerative diseases.
  • The NASA post does not say when or how Dragon will leave the station.
