Panasonic Energy opens its De Soto, Kansas plant and begins mass production of 2170 cells

Panasonic Energy opened its 300-acre Kansas factory and started mass production of 2170 EV cells, aiming for about 32 GWh a year. With its Nevada plant the company's US capacity would reach about 73 GWh, and automation makes the new plant about 20% more productive than Nevada.
- Building area about 4.7 million sq ft on a 300-acre site; up to 4,000 direct jobs.
- Cells reach 800 Wh/L; Panasonic plans a further 5% capacity gain from new materials.
- Nevada has run since 2017 at about 41 GWh a year.
- The company had supplied 19 billion cells by March 2025.
