NRC issues its final safety evaluation report for NuScale's 50 MWe module design

The NRC issued its Final Safety Evaluation Report on NuScale's Design Certification Application, making NuScale the first small modular reactor to receive this approval. Each module generates 60 MW of electricity, with plants capable of housing up to 12 modules.

• Final approval after 42-month review following March 2017 acceptance, involving 115,000 hours of NRC analysis.
• NuScale invested over $500M and 2M labor hours on application materials spanning 14 topical reports and >2M supporting pages.
• Scalable design of up to 12 modules per plant, establishing US leadership in SMR commercialization.
