Mysten Labs launches Seal on mainnet, adding encryption and on-chain access rules for data on Walrus
Seal lets developers encrypt data and write rules on Sui about who may read it. A committee of independent key servers checks the rule and hands out pieces of the decryption key only when enough of them agree, so no single server can unlock data alone. It makes private or paid content possible on Walrus.
- Threshold encryption: decryption needs shares from several key servers.
- Launch key-server providers included Ruby Nodes, NodeInfra, Triton One and Mysten's Enoki.
- Early users include OneFootball, Alkimi and several AI data platforms.
