Louisiana regulators approve Entergy's plan for new gas plants to power Hyperion

MetaPrometheus and Hyperion

The Louisiana Public Service Commission approved Entergy's infrastructure plan for Meta's Hyperion data centre: three combined-cycle gas turbine plants (two in Richland Parish due late 2028, one in St. Charles Parish due end 2029) plus new transmission and up to 1,500 MW of solar. Meta pays its share of costs, protecting other customers.

  • Two combined-cycle plants in Richland Parish, one at Waterford (St. Charles Parish); expected operational dates late 2028 and end 2029.
  • Authorized procurement of up to 1,500 MW of solar through expedited certification.
  • Meta funds its share; Entergy said other customers are shielded from those costs.
  • Entergy already breaking ground on supporting substations for the facility.
