Group14 begins EV-scale SCC55 production at its Sangju, South Korea factory (up to 2,000 t a year)
Group14 TechnologiesSCC55 and BAM factories
Group14 began making SCC55 at its Sangju, South Korea plant, designed for 2,000 tonnes a year (enough for about 10 GWh of batteries). This is the world's first EV-scale silicon battery materials factory. A tonne of SCC55 replaces about five tonnes of graphite, a material over 90% processed in China.
- Sangju plant produces up to 2,000 tonnes SCC55 annually, enabling ~10 GWh of battery capacity.
- World's first EV-scale silicon battery materials factory; one tonne SCC55 replaces ~five tonnes of graphite.
- Reduces dependence on Chinese graphite (90%+ of global processing); positioned near major Asian battery manufacturers.
