Congress establishes ARPA-H (Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health)

The US Congress passed H.R. 2471, the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2022, establishing ARPA-H as a new federal research agency. The agency was housed within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with the ARPA-H director reporting directly to the HHS Secretary, authorized to fund high-risk, high-reward biomedical research.
