Celestia unveils Fibre, a data availability protocol aimed at 1 Tb/s across 500 nodes
Celestia unveiled Fibre, a data-publishing protocol that achieved 1 terabit per second throughput in testing across 500 Google Cloud machines—1,500 times its original roadmap target. Fibre uses ZODA encoding (881x faster than KZG) and accepts blob submissions from 256 KB to 128 MB, with rollout planned to testnet then mainnet.
- Tests used 498 Google Cloud machines with 48–64 vCPUs, 90–128 GB RAM, and 34–45 Gbps network links.
- ZODA encodes data 881 times faster than KZG-based alternatives, enabling recovery from one-third of honest validators.
- Next phases: Arabica testnet for developers, then gradual mainnet rollout with stepped throughput increases.
