Celestia announced Matcha (v6), which replaces block-copying mechanisms to scale to 128 MB blocks and halves token inflation from 5% to 2.5%. The upgrade also enables any asset to be bridged to Celestia via IBC and Hyperlane, raises minimum validator commission from 5% to 10%, and cuts light-node storage from 30 TB to ~10 GB.

  • 128 MB blocks advance toward Celestia's 1 GB/s throughput goal; trusting period cut from 14 to 7 days reduces light-node storage 77%.
  • Inflation halved from 5% to 2.5%; minimum validator commission raised to 10% to maintain incentives.
  • Asset bridging now permissionless (IBC and Hyperlane filters removed); bridge node data cut from 30 TB to 7 TB.
