At an expo in Shenzhen BYD launched Haohan, a DC battery block of at least 14.5 MWh, against an industry norm of 6–7 MWh per unit. It uses a 2,710 Ah Blade cell, about three times a conventional storage cell, and fits 233 kWh per cubic metre. BYD says a 1 GWh plant needs half as many units, a third less land and 76% fewer cells.

  • 10 MWh fits in a standard 20-foot container; cells take 52% of system volume.
  • Claimed cycle life over 10,000 cycles; BYD claims 70% lower failure rates and maintenance costs.
  • Paired GC Flux grid-forming inverter, 2.5–10 MW, 99.35% peak efficiency.
  • BYD claims 21.7% lower levelized storage cost; all figures are the company's own.
