BYD signs 12.5 GWh of grid battery contracts with Saudi Electricity, the largest grid-scale storage deal to date

BYD Energy Storage signed contracts with Saudi Electricity Company for 12.5 GWh of batteries across five projects, after reports in January named it the winner. It supplies its MC Cube-T system, which packs cells straight into the enclosure (cell-to-system) and fills more than a third of its volume with cells.

• Five sites, 12.5 GWh in total.
• Product: MC Cube-T with cell-to-system packing, volume ratio above 33% (BYD figure).
• BYD says it had delivered 75 GWh of storage across 350 projects in more than 110 countries.
