Bluefors agrees to buy up to 10,000 litres a year of lunar helium-3 from Interlune for 2028–2037
Bluefors signed to buy up to 10,000 litres of helium-3 a year from Interlune, a Seattle company planning to harvest the isotope from lunar soil, with deliveries from 2028 to 2037. Helium-3 is what makes dilution refrigerators reach millikelvin temperatures, and Earth's supply is small. The deal is a bet that lunar mining becomes real within a few years.
- Volume: up to 10,000 litres per year; delivery window 2028–2037.
- Helium-3 builds up on the Moon from the solar wind; Earth's magnetic field shields our planet from it.
- Interlune CEO Rob Meyerson: a majority of the quantum industry relies on Bluefors systems.
- No contract value was disclosed by Bluefors.
