Bluefors unveils a modular cryogenic platform aimed at quantum computers with hundreds of thousands of qubits

BlueforsKIDE cryogenic platform

Bluefors announced a Modular Cryogenic Platform, a cooling system that quantum computer makers and supercomputing centres can grow module by module instead of buying one ever-larger fridge. The company says it can host hundreds of thousands of qubits, the scale fault-tolerant machines are expected to need. The first multi-module delivery is planned for late 2026.

  • Start with one module and add more as the machine grows.
  • Each module takes many wiring ports, independent of the cooling, so wiring and processors can be moved or swapped.
  • No cooling-power figures were published for the new platform.
  • Shown at the APS Global Physics Summit in Denver, 15–20 March 2026.
